Buying your new boat
Gary Torello has been boating since before he could walk. Sailing first on the waters in and around Old Saybrook from age 8. Now just a tad older, his experience includes sailing small and medium sailboats and operating power boats from 13 to 50 feet. Gary recently underwent five months of training for his 50 ton masters captain's licence.
If not around the docks at Midway Marina he can most often be found on his own vessel "Carpathia" a restored antique 32' Luhrs.
His extensive experience owning, operating, and restoring boats is an invaluable asset to his brokerage clients.

I would be happy to help you find a boat that fits your needs. As a broker I have many resources that are not available to individual boat buyers.
In addition to having many boats listed, I have access to the Yachtworld MLS system so that I can locate the exact model or type of boat you're looking for. I work with other listing brokers for a share of their sale commission so there are no additional fees for this service.
I am available to meet with you during both business hours as well as evenings and weekends.
Prior to searching for your boat I will:
- Meet with you to determine your boating needs and desires; Pleasure, fishing, sailing, etc. as well as the type and style of boat(s) that appeal to you.
- Determine your budget and advise on financing availability and probable mojnthly payments if you're looking to finance.
Searching for your ideal boat, I will:
- Search my current listings and the Yachtworld MLS system so that I can locate the exact model or type of boat you're looking for.
- Present you with a number of boats that fit your search criteria and provide my best professional opinion on each.
- Contact the seller/broker of the boat(s) you are interested in and gather any additional information available.
- Schedule appointments for you to view boats you are interested in.
When a possible candidate is found, I will:
- Research the vessels value by providing an analysis of both book value and sale prices of recently sold similar boats.
- Provide you with a list of yacht surveyors, and provide assistance in coordinating the survey.
- Review the results of the survey with you and provide advise regarding any findings.
- Act as your "buffer" between yourself and the seller
- Coordinate a sea trial with the seller
When you've found your boat, I will:
- Provide financing recommendations and sources.
- Provide advice regarding things such as insurance, dockage, and licensing requirements.
- Coordinate the final sale price and conditions with the seller
- Coordinate the closing date and advise you on what you will need at the closing.
Give me a call at 860-997-0620 to discuss these services or any other assistance I can provide in obtaining your new boat!
