Selling Your Boat
Gary Torello has been boating since before he could walk. Sailing first on the waters in and around Old Saybrook from age 8. Now just a tad older, his experience includes sailing small and medium sailboats and operating power boats from 13 to 50 feet. Gary recently underwent five months of training for his 50 ton masters captain's licence.
If not around the docks at Midway Marina he can most often be found on his own vessel "Carpathia" a restored antique 32' Luhrs.
His extensive experience owning, operating, and restoring boats is an invaluable asset to his brokerage clients.

I would be happy to help you sell your boat As a broker I have resources that are not available to boat owners.
Listing your boat, I advertise it with Yacht World, Boats U.S., Boats.com, our own web site as well as a number of other regionally targeted sites. We will
also place it in the Yachtworld MLS system so that other brokers with
buyers can market your boat as well. I share the sale commission with outside brokers in these cases so there are no additional fees for this service.
I am available during both business hours as well as evenings and weekends - prompt service is key in todays market.
Prior to marketing your boat I will:
- Conduct a market analysis of the same/similar boats being currently
marketed as well as provide sale price data of boats sold recently in
this area so that you can decide on an appropriate selling price.
- Provide advice regarding "staging" your boat so that it has maximum
appeal to buyers
- Photograph your boat
- Document your boats condition, features and equipment
During the time your boat is listed I will:
- Advertise you boat on YachtWorld, Boats.com, Powerboatlistings.com, Sailboatlistings.com and our own web sites as well as a large number of other national and smaller targeted sites depending on the vessel. Ebay listings are also available where appropriate.
- Promptly show the boat to all interested buyers
- Receive offers and deposits and discuss those offers with you.
- Keep you appraised of buyer feedback and changes in the
marketplace.
When a buyer is found, I will:
- Handle all aspects of the deposit/offer
- Act as your "buffer" between yourself and the seller
- Coordinate a condition survey if requested (at buyers cost)
- Coordinate a sea trial if requested
- Collect payment at the closing and disburse funds as appropriate.
Concerned about people not being serious buyers?
I pre-qualify and evaluate potential buyers to make sure that they are serious can afford your boat. I require a purchase offer where the buyer must place a down payment of 10% prior to starting the engines or leaving the dock with your boat. You will be presented only with serious buyers. The buyer may require two things: Marine Survey at buyer's expense and a Sea Trial.
Give me a call at 860-997-0620 and we can arrange a time to sit down
and discuss this further. Feel free to stop by at any time during
business hours, but it's always best to call prior as I am seldom at
my desk; I could be anywhere in the marina or at an area marina.
