| "Caillou Pride" - 1977 Converted 57' Shrimper - Portland, CT
The Caillou Pride is a 57 foot steel-hulled former Louisiana shrimp boat converted to a liveaboard, pleasure cruising boat. She has two staterooms, a full head (with separate shower), and a deckhouse/galley with extra bunk and navigation station. She easily sleeps 5 and can accommodate up to 7. The galley provides the cook with a refrigerator, microwave, propane cook stove, double sink and ample counter space to prepare food for the crew. The large spaces make her very comfortable for extended cruising. The owner spent a month last summer traveling north through lake erie to Canada without incident.
This is a character boat which makes a statement on the water – a real head-turner.
There is space on the deck for up to 35 people. She would be great for entertaining, for serious traveling, as a research vessel or as simply a sea-going home.
She is powered by two Detroit Diesel 6-71 engines and has a comfortable cruising speed of about 8 knots. The two engines (unusual for a commercial fishing boat) and large rudders make her easy to maneuver. Fuel capacity is about 2,200 gallons, and fresh water about 1,200 gallons, which makes her a great expedition boat. She displaces about 40 tons, depending on fuel and fresh water loads. Instruments include depth sounder, GPS navigation, vhf radio, radar and autopilot.
